Job Description: Plant Operations Engineer
The Plant Operations Engineer is a key member of the Energy and Utilities team, responsible for overseeing the efficient and safe operation of power plant systems. This role requires a strong technical background, exceptional problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The Plant Operations Engineer will collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure the smooth functioning of the power plant operations.
Responsibilities:
1. Monitor and maintain the operation of power plant systems, including boilers, turbines, generators, and auxiliary equipment.
2. Conduct regular inspections and perform preventive maintenance tasks to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
3. Analyze operating data, identify trends, and implement corrective actions to optimize plant performance and efficiency.
4. Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues, taking prompt action to mitigate risks and prevent potential failures.
5. Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure safe and efficient plant operations.
6. Collaborate with other departments, such as maintenance, engineering, and environmental health and safety, to coordinate activities and address operational challenges.
7. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and environmental regulations.
8. Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis, providing technical expertise and recommending improvement measures.
9. Support the training and development of plant personnel, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to operate equipment safely and efficiently.
10. Stay updated with industry developments, technological advancements, and best practices to drive continuous improvement in plant operations.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in power plant operations, with a focus on boilers, turbines, generators, and associated systems.
3. Strong knowledge of power plant processes, equipment, and control systems.
4. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to identify and resolve operational issues effectively.
5. Solid understanding of safety procedures and regulations related to power plant operations.
6. Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation, with the ability to use software tools for monitoring and optimization.
7. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
8. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects concurrently.
